The end of Europe

As I write this we are both on a train from London on our way to Skipton. We have 2 more sleeps (not including unscheduled naps) and then we board a plane to fly home.

Last I wrote was we were leaving Prague for Salzburg. We arrived, had a nice look around and a relatively early night. Next morning was Sound of Music tour. As someone who hasn't seen the movie I found it surprisingly interesting. I never knew it was based on a true story which probably made it more interesting. The tour itself went through some scenic areas of Salzburg so that was nice. Next day we caught a bus to Munich.

We walked around upon first getting there but really took it pretty easy. Next day we wandered around and saw most of the sites. The following morning we checked out and then went to a castle about 2 hours away. We looked into doing it with a tour but it was too expensive. We did it ourselves by doing a train, and then 2 buses. It cost about a quarter of the tour and they were on the same trains and buses as us.

That night we had a night bus to Budapest. It was supposed to leave at 11pm but was an hour and a half late, of which we were all waiting outside in the freezing cold. When we finally got on the bus it was so full we didn't sit next to each other. 10 hours later we arrived and it also marked the end of night buses!

Budapest was chilly. We relaxed the first day and had a late afternoon walk. We took photos at about 4:30pm in the afternoon where it is almost totally dark, and all lights on. Bizarre.

Next day was freezing. We went around and saw the sights we wanted to see but hurried through them to get back to our room. Next morning seemed the warmest and sunniest of the lot and was also the day we saw snow fall. We checked out, and made our way to the airport.

We flew out and arrived in London at 6pm, went through customs and got to central London with enough time to have tea before seeing the stage musical 'Wicked' at 7:30pm. Its setup as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. It follows the life of the wicked witch of the west. We had both read the book while around Europe and we both enjoyed it. Its strange to have read the book, and find the ending in the musical is different. Afterwards we made our way to our hotel near Kings Cross. We were in the hotel for a total of 7 hours before having to board a train which brings us to where we are now. We are both on a train from London on our way to Skipton.
