Manchester

Well we are here safe in Manchester. We have settled into our new house and everything is going well. I kinda have a job lined up which i have to go in and see about Monday. Its not a great job but its something that pays ok so it will be handy to have some incoming money. Renee is still looking but applying so it shouldn't be too long before we are both employed.

Photos should have been added but the ipod didn't want to work properly with this computer to get the photos off so i will hopefully do that over the weekend when i catch up with my brother Graeme. Once i have them iwill be able to add a few photos.

We spent Easter in Skipton which was fairly uneventful. We spent a day with Renees family and went and visited the dales which was nice. The Saturday night we walked down to the supermarker to get easter eggs and along the way we past a church and just outside were really bunny rabbits. The supermarket was closed but at least we saw Bunny Rabbits at Easter. Strange as it was the only time we saw them but would have walked past that church several times every day.

The Tuesday we caught the train from Skipton to the station about 600m from where our house now is. Makes it fairly easy with all the luggage. We arrived safely and everything is going well. I will add some pictures of the house at some stage. Its really nice. I think we are being spoilt. Our new King bed arrived yesterday but it will be put up over the weekend once the floor in our room has been revanished. The shower is also a steamroom and has side jets to spray your side. Interesting...

Manchester United vs Sunderland was a bit of a let down so we are going to see another game. Manchester United Vs Middlesborough on May 1st. Will be good as we also get to see Mark Viduka play. Graeme isn't going to this so it will be Myself, Renee, Gareth, Gareths friend and a Cody. Im not sure what a Cody is but apparently he is coming.

Along with the tickets to the Man U game, we also bought tickets to see Unicef Soccer Aid. Myself and Renee will be going to the Charity soccer event at Old Trafford which should be interesting. Robbie Williams will be playing as captain of one of the sides so we (I) thought it would be good to see.

Today we are heading off to Barnsley and will see Graeme play cricket. We will then prob go out for tea and crash at his and Codys house. Im still not sure what a Cody is. Sunday we are going shopping somewhere between Barnsley and Sheffield for clothes. Apparently they are cheap.

Well i will stop boring you all and will update after the weekend when i should have a few photos.

Skipton

There were a lot more photos to add but ran out of time in the hostel. More photos should be on by Wednesday or Thursday next week.

The bus ride from London to Skipton was about 6 hours. Sadly after being on the tour of Europe a bus ride that length didn't seem like anything unusual. About half an hour from Skipton Renee received a call from family in Skipton to say there had been a death within the family. We originally planned on only being in Skipton a couple of days but this changed things a little. We ended up being there just over 1 week. I saw where Renee used to work and live. I met people she used to work with and old friends. They all seemed like nice people. On Monday 10th April we attended the funeral. The Wednesday we left for Manchester.

We arrived and got free shuttle bus to our hotel. The bus driver was one crazy guy. Apparently the bus doesn't brake down because he talks to it. That evening we went through two houses to live in. We renting a room in a house instead of renting a full house. Both houses were nice but the one we chose was bigger, more stuff included, and was cheaper. We now have somewhere to live.

For directions, if you go to the site http://regalstar.co.uk you can see the cats we will be sharing the house with and there's a link to Google Maps or just go to http://maps.google.co..uk/?near=M28%203SG

As I write this its 9:30am on Good Friday. Tonight Renee and I, with my brother Graeme and Gareth are going to see Manchester United play Sunderland. As of yesterday morning the tickets hadn't arrived. I tried calling their ticket line but after being on hold a few minutes decided to hang up as I was on my mobile. We had all day bus passes so actually went to the stadium. After queueing for half an hour we got a good result. The tickets will be reprinted and we can pick them up today.

Graeme and Gareth will be staying overnight in the same hotel we are in. I booked the nights accommodation for them. When we booked our nights I did it online. 49 a night less 5.50 for late booking discount. I asked at the counter about booking the room for Graeme and G and they said ir would be 49 a night. Price I got was because I booked onlne. I said not to worry. I walked 10 feet away and sat in a chair, and pulled out my pda and using the free wireless internet they provide, booked the room for 43.50

Saturday morning we catch the train back to Skipton. All our luggage is still there. We will be there for the long weekend and we coming back on Tuesday to our place of residence for the next 8 months.

The Photos Begin...

Escargot...

Our last night of Paris and we are going out for tea. Beforehand we went to Montmartre which is the small hill in Paris. Had a nice Chocolate Crepe while we were there. From there we went to tea. For starters i had Escargot and Renee had shrimp cocktail. Escargot is snails. I have to say it was the tastiest thing i have eaten in a long time. Rest of the meal was really tasty and an enjoyable evening.

Morning was a 6:30am start to get from Paris to Calais, catch the ferry to Dover, and then Bus back to London. We have arrived safely at our hotel for the night and just about to walk out the door to grab something for tea and organise transport up to Skipton.

Hopefully photos will be added shortly.

Paris

Yesterday was a long day. We drove from Lucerne to Paris which was about 700km on a bus. We arrived, had a quick tea and then went and saw the cabaret show 'Paradis Latin'. We were both very tired by the end of it.

Today we have spent the day exploring Paris. Have taken lots of photos and we will both be coming back here over the next 8 months. Tonight we are going out for tea and we will be getting snails as a starter. That should be interesting....
